Runts are the fruit-shaped hard candy from Ferrara — small, crunchy, brightly-coloured pieces moulded to look like miniature bananas, cherries, strawberries, oranges and limes. A nostalgia-and-novelty crossover that has been an American sweet-shop fixture since 1982.
